Category: Infectious Diseases Hepatitis A virus is a vaccine-preventable fecal-orally transmitted RNA virus that causes acute hepatitis. Hepatitis A is never chronic, is often asymptomatic in younger patients and causes fulminant hepatic failure in < 1% of cases.
